Part-Time
Position Overview:

George Washingtonโ€™s Mount Vernon is currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated staff for several positions in the fast-paced, high-volume Food Court amp; Pavilion. We are a tourism-based organization, thus weekend and holiday work can be required.
The Hospitality Associate is a front-of-house, guest-facing role responsible for delivering a welcoming, efficient, and positive dining experience in The Generalโ€™s Canteen. This position supports daily food service operations through cashiering, guest assistance, cleanliness, and upkeep of dining and guest areas. Hospitality Associates play a key role in maintaining high standards of service, presentation, and guest satisfaction.
Compensation:
$15.00 to $18.00 based on experience
Expected Hours:
28-30 hours/week, several shifts available, including weekend and evening hours
Essential Duties:
  • Strong hospitality and customer service skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent personal presentation and professionalism
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining food safety standards
  • Team-oriented mindset and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, health and safety procedures

  • Clean and stock the pavilion with condiments, "grab and go" items, and supplies

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and flexible
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Must work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • 1-2 years of food service or restaurant experience is a plus
  • Ability to communicate in English required
Work Environment:
This role takes place in a busy restaurant or cafรฉ setting, involving regular interaction with guests and coworkers. The pace is fast and dynamic, particularly during meal service times. Noise levels can be moderate to high.

Physical Requirements:
Requires prolonged standing and walking, carrying trays, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds. Clear verbal communication and customer service skills are essential. The role also involves handling food and beverages.
