Job Summary The Senior Librarian will lead a team dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and delivering vital library programs and services to the community. This position requires a high level of independence in managing staff, resources, and branch activities in alignment with the County's strategic goals. The Sr.

Librarian will oversee daily operations, including staff management, programming, and fiscal responsibilities, while ensuring a positive and dynamic library environment. Essential Job Functions Staff Management and Leadership: Supervise and support branch staff by prioritizing tasks, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff training, and providing guidance on policy and procedures. Promote a positive and safe work environment and handle hiring, training, discipline, and staffing recommendations.

Lead by example, fostering a customer-friendly culture while ensuring exceptional service delivery to library patrons. Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, community organizations, and patrons to encourage collaboration and success. Branch Operations and Customer Service: Ensure that the branch meets the library's strategic goals through efficient and high-quality service provision.

Oversee daily operations, including collection maintenance, selection, and shelving, while maintaining the branch's service levels. Respond to customer inquiries and manage public service shifts, providing direct assistance when needed. Coordinate and implement library programs, events, and outreach to address community needs, and work on innovative initiatives to engage patrons.

Facilities and Budget Management: Maintain the physical condition of the library facility, ensuring regular building security and addressing maintenance or IT requests. Supervise and manage branch operating expenses, maintaining the branch's budget and providing input into the annual financial planning process. Ensure the branch is secure after hours, responding to security concerns when required.

Professional Development and Community Engagement: Actively engage in continuing education to keep professional and technological skills up to date. Build relationships with the community by attending local programs and representing the library in outreach activities outside of normal hours. Assist with disaster response and recovery efforts as directed by library management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires good vision and hearing, with or without correction, and dexterity in the use of both hands and fingers. Frequent walking, standing, and sitting are required, as well as clear and concise speaking ability. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.

Regular standing and walking, with tasks that may include climbing, bending, and squatting. Involves moderate physical effort, including operating equipment or performing manual tasks. Ability to perform work in varying environments which may require some outdoor activities.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS: Work is primarily conducted in a climate-controlled office setting. The role requires prolonged periods of sitting and extensive use of computers and other office equipment, which may lead to eye strain and repetitive motion injuries. Employees may frequently engage in meetings and teamwork, requiring effective communication in shared spaces.

The position involves minimal physical exertion, primarily consisting of desk work, although occasional movement within the office may be required. Employees will work under standard office lighting and may experience moderate noise levels from office equipment and conversations. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with a good driving record. Additional Information Pay Grade G204 Driving Position - Operating County vehicles and/or equipment is a primary function of this position.
