Raytheon is seeking a Principal Electrical Component Engineer to join the Parts, Libraries and Obsolescence (PLO) Department.  

This is an on-site based position in Tuscon, AZ. 

The selected candidate will perform and/or assist in the performance of Components Engineering or Applications Engineering tasks supporting airborne, ground, and tactical missile platforms/programs in the proposal, Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP), production and support phases. 

This position will require day-to-day interface with designers, suppliers, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Parts Obsolescence Lead/Managers (POL), Product Development Engineers (PDE), Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD), Program Management Office (PMO), and other disciplines.  This role also entails supporting parts selection, parts standardization, parts application responsibilities and Parts Verification analysis supporting the program application approval through a program Parts and Materials Control Board (PMCB) comprised of members both internal to Raytheon and from customer organizations. Some travel to integration sites, customer facilities, and subcontractor facilities may be required. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Understand program requirements and Statements of Work (SOWs) to determine program component environmental / characteristic application requirements. 

  • Provide technology insertion and parts selection/standardization guidance while adhering to business, component parametric, application environmental and circuit application constraints. 

  • Generate and revise component drawings and associated verification data packages. 

  • Review of electronic component and assembly reliability and construction data, and preparation of such data as to facilitate Part and Material Control Board review and adjudication. 

  • Perform alternate part investigations and generate comparison matrices showing the differences and similarities of the parts. 

  • Interface with multiple internal stakeholders and external suppliers/manufacturers to develop component risk and verification delineation. 

  • Facilitate component selection and libraries application through the coordination and generation of the program Bill of Material (BOM) in a collaboration toolset. 

  • Present component standardization, design library, obsolescence management and termination finish risk results in support of design reviews for a program. 

Qualifications You Must Have: 

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience with any combination of the following: 

  • Experience with a wide range of electronic and electro-mechanical part commodities including integrated circuits, semiconductors, and passive devices. 

  • Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for use in military and aerospace flight applications. 

  • Knowledge of Component MIL drawings, standards, test specifications, and associated QPLs and QMLs. 

  • Experience with BOM (Bill of Material) development and management for developmental and production programs. 

Qualifications We Prefer: 

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related science or engineering discipline 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with project or task management. 

  • Knowledge of component failure modes by commodity. 

  • Experience with root cause corrective action (RCCA) 

  • Knowledge of component reliability process monitors and/or qualification methodologies. 

  • Knowledge of circuit card and PWB manufacturing processes. 

  • Experience with RF components and interconnect devices. 

  • Experience with the use or adaptation of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products in a military system.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
