Job Summary
The J. Willard Marriott Library is seeking a dependable, service-oriented Audiovisual Services Assistant to support the library's audiovisual, event, and scheduling services. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving problems and contributing to a collaborative team that delivers outstanding customer service.
While this position primarily focuses on audiovisual services, team members collaborate across all aspects of the department and assist one another as needed.
Applicants should be proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
To help the library appropriately monitor student employment hours, part-time student employees are generally expected to work only for the Marriott Library unless and approved exception applies.
Responsibilities
Audiovisual Services
- Provide support for audiovisual equipment used by students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Assist with audio and video recording for library events
- Help inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade classroom and event audiovisual equipment
Event Support
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for events throughout the library, including the Gould auditorium
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of event furniture and equipment
Scheduling
- Respond to room reservation requests, create reservations in the scheduling system, and send confirmation emails
- Interpret and enforce library and University policies when scheduling requests
- Communicate with library patrons regarding event logistics, room availability, and schedule changes
Other tasks
- Assist with event catering preparation, service, and cleanup
- Perform other related duties to support Events & Scheduling operations
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
- Current University of Utah student enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
- Proficiency with Windows and macOS
- Familiarity with or interest in audiovisual equipment and basic technical troubleshooting
- Experience with event setup or event coordination
- Customer service experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, with occasional evenings or weekends
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely move and set up tables, chairs, and other event equipment
