Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Facility Maintenance Lead & Supervisor

Are you a versatile, hands-on professional with a background in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work? We are seeking a dedicated Facility Maintenance Worker to join our team to ensure our County-owned buildings and grounds operate safely, efficiently, and securely.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Maintenance & Repair: Perform plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and mechanical repairs.
  • Groundskeeping & Safety: Maintain landscaping, clear debris, and execute snow/ice removal on parking lots and walkways.
  • Security & Systems: Conduct maintenance on building security devices (locks, cameras, alarms) and building systems.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in an on-call rotation (including carrying an after-hours duty phone) to handle facility emergencies.
  • Equipment Care: Perform preventive maintenance on County tools, mowers, and vehicles.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of electricity, boilers, generators, and elevators.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat or cold and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact courteously with County staff and visitors.
  • Ability to pass a drug-screening test.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. (Technical school or college courses in a maintenance-related field are a plus).
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of increasingly responsible related work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) in boilers, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electronics, or groundskeeping.
  • Licensure: Must be legally licensed and insured to drive a motor vehicle, with the ability to drive in inclement weather.

Work Environment & Travel

Routine travel throughout the County is required, with occasional out-of-state travel. Work involves exposure to varying outdoor weather, dust, fumes, and occasionally hazardous conditions.
