About You:

Duties and responsibilities (including but not limited to)
  • Prepares mise-en-place for workstation.
  • Maintains accurate prep lists.
  • Maintains ice, lobster inventory and supplies in section.
  • Inspects ingredients for quality-control.
  • Presents excellent food for service.
  • Interacts with guests in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Coordinates pick-ups pick ups with servers and cooks.
  • Communicates with the lobster team during and after service.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work area and maintains designated cooler space.
  • Able to handle ~30 lbs of ice and product multiple times a shift.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications
  • Understanding and experience of restaurant hospitality.
  • 1+ yr professional kitchen experience
  • Willingness to learn and retain knowledge.
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.
  • Understanding of NYC health department codes

Working conditions
This job operates in a professional kitchen environment. This role routinely uses standard kitchen equipment including knives and appliances. Kitchen is small and efficient, and temperatures may be high. The workspace is on two levels and ability to use stairs is required.
Essential Functions of the Job
While performing the duties of this job, it is required to stand for several hours at a time; walk; sit. The employee must occasionally lift or move kitchen products and supplies, up to 40 pounds. Days and hours of work vary and are generally assigned as a 40 hour per week schedule. This position regularly requires evening and weekend work. This is a full-time (occasionally part-time), FLSA non-exempt hourly position in the Kitchen at Chelsea Market at 75 9th Avenue.
