Mission Statement:

West Liberty University is a public university with a rich history of providing students with a comprehensive education from undergraduate to graduate degrees. Through experiental learning and personalized support, we empower students toward scholarly exploration, creative expression, and economic opportunity.

The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is looking for custodial staff. Custodial staff perform various functions to ensure building environments are kept clean following established procedures on an assigned schedule.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Operates various mechanical cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, etc.

  • Maintains facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning, and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Disinfects high touch areas daily upon request or during seasonal issues (eg; flu season, etc).
  • Mixes and dilutes commercial strength cleaning solutions, calculates area to determine amounts of cleaning solution required.
  • Disposes of trash, waste, and other disposable materials as required.
  • Cleans and disinfects bathroom facilities and replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Restocks paper supplies and soap in dispensers when necessary.
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, disinfects, and vacuums floors, stairwells, elevators, and related areas. Strips, waxes, and polishes floors.
  • Dusts and Polishes furniture, tabletops, file cabinets, bookcases, and other related woodwork. and required surfaces.
  • Washes and cleans walls, ceilings, doors, windows.
  • Cleans ceiling fixtures such as lights, radiators, and HVAC registers when needed or per schedule.
  • Vacuums and shampoo carpets, rugs, and upholstery.
  • Cleans accessible interior and exterior windows as needed, per schedule, or upon request.
  • Provides coverage to additional areas when co-workers are absent.
  • Reports any needed building repairs or safety issues to supervisor.
  • Complies with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:


  • High school diploma or GED is required.

  • At least 6 months of previous custodial experience is preferred.
