GENERAL PURPOSE
The Solutions Engineer (SE) works closely with commercial Integrators, Specifiers, and End Users to design Legrand | AV solutions into their projects - with the goal of helping them create reliable systems that are easy to order and install, while saving time. The SE becomes the "go to" person for system design assistance, with the focus on becoming an integral asset for customer in-house design teams. Responsible for job walks, technical training, design drawings and take-offs, bill of material swaps, as well as helping to ensure exceptional experiences - including interfacing Legrand products with others and trouble-shooting when necessary. While working primarily with customers, the SE will also work closely with the Legrand | AV Sales Teams, Product Managers, Tech Support, Sales Ops, Marketing, and others to drive specification for multiple Legrand brands, and will work to grow revenue by attaching additional Legrand products and tracking opportunities. The ideal candidate has an intimate knowledge of Legrand products, leading AV industry products, key applications, and customers. Must be very comfortable with AV technology and experienced working in multiple design platforms. Must have excellent customer service skills, able to work effectively across a matrixed organization, and be an excellent communicator.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsible for System Design, working closely with Customers and Sales team
    • Integrates with customer design teams to help them create effective system designs
    • Specifies multiple Legrand brands as appropriate
    • Performs BOM swap-outs
    • Performs job walks/ site surveys
    • Provides technical training
  • Drives incremental revenue by adding additional Legrand products to existing opportunities
  • Drives revenue growth through tracking of new opportunities
  • Analyses competitive bids, makes suggestions, and justifies Legrand substitutions
  • Is a technical and sales resource at trade shows
  • Technical resource in the field for all brands
  • Works with Sales Teams on quotes as required
  • Provides field escalation conduit for customers to factory
  • Provides factory with customer feedback
  • Performs field installation assistance and trouble-shooting as necessary
  • Assists with competitive shoot-outs
  • Actively engages with integrator, specifier, and end-user design teams to uncover Legrand opportunities
  • Assists or leads training activities across all Legrand | AV brands
  • Drives multi-brand preference, specification, and sales
  • Documents project, opportunity, case, and contact status in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Database
  • Participates in LNCA cross-brand projects
  • Maintains company quality and legal compliance by adhering to internal approval process on all printed materials; initiate corrective action to ensure materials stay up-to-date and are in compliance
  • Understands workplace hazards and takes steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace; participates in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Keen understanding of AV Market applications
  • Expert in Legrand | AV products and technologies
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interface comfortably with customers, and to work effectively across the Legrand | AV organization
  • Proficient in multiple design platforms - able to integrate Legrand products into new and existing customer system designs/ drawings
  • Experience in installation and trouble-shooting of AV systems
  • Proven ability to build solid customer relationships; demonstrated ability to be customer focused and responsive
  • Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and resources
  • Experience in technical training, and ability to present with energy and structure to all size audiences
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, while effectively communicating and maintaining visibility with stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization needs
  • Proven experience in creating and driving sales
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects through to resolution
  • Able to represent Legrand | AV in a professional manner
  • Computer literate (MS Office suite, etc.)
  • Use of customer relationship management platforms (Salesforce) and experience in working with trouble ticketing systems.
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or governmental law

Minimum Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, engineering or related technical degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical sales; or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Proficient in multiple commercial design platforms
  • Expert in Legrand | AV products and technologies

Special Job Requirements:
  • Must be available for extended, varied work hours based on business need

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ year experience in AV Market
  • Previous Sales or System Engineer/Designer role
  • Networking expertise
  • Sales, Tech Support or other customer-facing experience
  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-D certification

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will periodically be required to stand for the majority of the working day at trade shows. As required for trade show set-up, the employee must be able to reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, climb; and lift, push or pull 25 lbs. Also required to make coordinated movements of the fingers for using a keyboard.
