Job Description:
SPOHP is the University of Florida's award-winning oral history program. We are engaged in experiential learning initiatives all over the world. Our team of student researchers, interns, volunteers, and staff are dedicated to gathering, preserving, and promoting living histories of individuals from all walks of life. SPOHP is committed to using critical historical inquiry and digital humanities to encourage civic engagement and dialogue between the past, present, and the future.
The federal work study transcription assistant position is responsible for transcription and interview maintenance duties that support the SPOHP collection. We are accepting applications for Fall 2026.
Position duties:
  • Assisting with creating archive inventory.
  • Assisting with digitization workflow processes, including transcription, audit-editing, and metadata
  • creation.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Expected Salary:
$15/hour - $17/hour
Required Qualifications:
• Must be eligible for Federal Work Study
• Must be a current UF student
• Must be available to work 8-10 hours per week
Preferred:
• Experience with or interest in Oral History or other qualitative methods
• Attention to detail
• Ability to learn and utilize new software
• Experience with library archives.
