Job description

Cassiday Schade LLP, a mid-sized regional civil litigation defense firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Secretary for its Indianapolis Office.

The candidate must be reliable, hardworking, self-starter who possesses excellent organizational and communication skills, both within the Firm, with clients, and other legal professionals. Candidate must be a team player with the ability to multi-task and work independently. The candidate must be a skilled typist with competent transcription abilities, along with proficiencies in Microsoft 365 and PDF software. An ideal candidate will have some familiarity with medical terminology and a working knowledge of court procedures including electronic filing and some experience with trial work. Civil litigation experience required. This candidate should have five plus years of experience. Excellent benefits and a salary commensurate with skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, format, edit, proofread, and finalize legal documents and correspondence.
  • Filing court documents with various courts (State/Federal/Appellate), as well as a working knowledge of court procedures.
  • Prepare conflict checks and open new matters.
  • Assist in management of attorney calendars, including deposition and meeting scheduling.
  • Draft and issue discovery subpoenas, recordkeeping & follow-up.
  • Transcription.
  • Filing documents into the document management system and maintaining client files.
  • Process attorney mail and invoices for payment.
  • Closing files.
  • iManage and Chrome River experience a plus.
  • Other administrative tasks/duties assigned.
