Description
Hanwha Qcells designs, builds, and manages financially sustainable solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions. The company brings a decade of global leadership in solar PV to North America, combining world-class technology, processes, and partnerships to deliver utility-grade solar PV solutions customized for the US energy market.
Please note: This role is onsite in Cartersville, GA.
SUMMARY
The Legal Counsel role will be responsible for providing in-house legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate matters, including contracts, employment law, customs and trade law, and compliance. The Legal Counsel will assist in the resolution of disputes and manage litigation/arbitration, while reviewing and interpreting legal requirements and effectively communicating these to the business/external stakeholders. This position reports to the Sr. Legal Counsel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide legal support and guidance to the business team and management on a variety of legal issues.
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes, including disputes with commercial parties.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Provide supervision to outside lawyers hired to assist the company with their specialized legal services.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents, including purchase agreements, sales agreements, service agreements, and lease agreements.
  • Design, build, and improve legal team processes.
  • Consult and protect Qcells against legal risks, penalties, and investigations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), or an equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
  • A member in good standing with a state bar association.
  • Experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm (or a combination of both).
  • Professional legal experience handling legal disputes such as litigation and arbitration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience as in-house counsel or at a law firm (or a combination of both).
  • Bilingual (Korean & English).
  • Experience in the solar industry, energy sector, or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in managing construction disputes.
