Job description

Position Title: Legal Assistant / Paralegal

Location: Tallahassee, FL

Engagement Type: Contract

Duration: ~10.5 Months (08/17/2026 – 06/30/2027)

Role OverviewWe are seeking a Legal Assistant / Paralegal with 3 to 5 years of experience to support 3 to 4 attorneys in an office environment. The successful candidate will manage attorney case files and daily calendars, contact judicial assistants, format and file legal documents with the court, and perform essential legal secretarial and administrative functions within the Florida court systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the legal secretary for assigned attorneys.
• Format, finalize, type, and file legal documents, pleadings, and motions with appropriate tribunals.
• Prepare legal documents, correspondence, subpoenas, and discovery requests from drafts.
• Serve or arrange service of legal documents and maintain organized attorney case files.
• Schedule hearings, trials, and depositions, and arrange necessary facilities as directed.
• Retain and schedule court reporters and procure transcripts.
• Manage daily calendars and coordinate travel arrangements.
• Perform general secretarial duties, including answering phone calls.
• Close case files and assist with general office management as needed.  Required Skills & Experience• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary.
• 3+ years of experience formatting, finalizing, typing, and filing documents, pleadings, and motions.
• 3+ years of experience preparing legal documents, subpoenas, and discovery requests from drafts.
• 3+ years of experience scheduling hearings, trials, and depositions.
• 3+ years of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• 2+ years of experience managing daily executive calendars.
• 1+ year of experience managing travel arrangements.
• Ability to speak and understand English.  Preferred Skills• Associate or Bachelor's degree.
• Experience working within the Florida court systems.
• Experience working for a State of Florida Attorney.  Additional Details• Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (Onsite, Office Environment).
• Dress Code: Appropriate, semi-professional dress attire.
• Travel & Overtime: No weekend work or overtime required.
