General Distribution Center Associate

Tandy Leather Factory, Inc., headquartered in a brand new facility in Benbrook, Texas, is the largest specialty leather retailer and a go-to resource for generations of leather workers. Our broad product line includes leather, leatherworking tools, buckles and adornments, leather dyes and finishes, saddle and tack hardware, and do-it-yourself kits; we also provide classes and other teaching resources. An institution in the Fort Worth area since 1919, Tandy Leather distributes its products through its 100+ retail stores located in 40 US states, 6 Canadian provinces, and Spain. As a century-old brand, Tandy has a deep respect for tradition, but we also embrace change, new trends, and new ways to create. From store to distribution center to corporate, Team Tandy works collaboratively every day to ensure our customers' experiences are always consistent no matter how they choose to shop at Tandy.

Our DISTRIBUTION CENTER Associates play a key role in the daily operation of the Distribution Center, ensuring merchandise is received, stocked, picked, packed, and shipped accurately and efficiently to 100+ retail stores. This is a hands-on position that supports both inbound (receiving & put-away) and outbound (picking, packing, shipping) operations, as well as quality control tasks as assigned. You will be responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock.

Inbound (Receiving & Put-Away)

  • Unload and inspect incoming shipments
  • Verify product quantities and conditions against purchase orders
  • Label and scan inventory using RF devices
  • Place goods in designated distribution center storage locations

Outbound (Picking, Packing & Shipping)

  • Accurately pick items from storage using handheld scanners
  • Pack and label cartons for store delivery
  • Prepare shipments according to delivery schedule and loading plans
  • Stage completed orders on outbound dock per route or store

Quality Control & Housekeeping

  • Check items for damage, mislabeling, or order errors
  • Follow all safety and cleanliness standards in assigned area
  • Report inventory discrepancies or equipment malfunctions

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • 6+ months of distribution center, stocking, or distribution experience preferred
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic, with a commitment to accuracy and a high level of productivity
  • Must be comfortable with distribution center management software (WMS), using handheld scanners and other inventory tracking technology
  • Familiarity with distribution center safety practices
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with teammates (leads and peers) to ensure timely completion of duties. Report issues through the chain of command
  • Willingness to learn multiple functions and cross train
  • General math and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable transportation, attendance and punctuality
  • Must be able to bend, walk/stand for 8 hours or more and lift 30-50 lbs.
  • Some exposure to dusty and dirty work conditions
  • Some exposure to storing hazardous materials
