Position Overview

The Business Development Representative is a front-line, new-business-focused role responsible for generating and qualifying new sales opportunities. Youll spend the majority of your time identifying potential clients, initiating conversations, and setting meetings for yourself and the senior sales team.

Over time, this role is designed to grow into a full sales position, where youll manage your own accounts and opportunities from start to finish.


Core Responsibilities

New Business Development & Prospecting

  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities through outbound calls, emails, LinkedIn, and in-person outreach.
  • Build and manage a targeted list of prospects including:
    • Corporate offices and businesses
    • Property managers and developers
    • Architects and interior designers
    • General contractors and facilities teams
  • Consistently meet daily and weekly activity goals (calls, emails, meetings set).
  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads to determine project fit, budget, and timeline.

Pipeline & Meeting Generation

  • Schedule introductory meetings, showroom visits, and discovery calls with potential clients.
  • Conduct initial discovery conversations to understand client needs and upcoming projects.
  • Hand off qualified opportunities to senior sales reps or progress them independently as your skills develop.
  • Maintain an active and healthy pipeline focused on new business.

Sales Process Support

  • Assist with basic product recommendations and early-stage budget estimates.
  • Support senior reps with follow-up, proposal coordination, and next steps on active opportunities.
  • Track opportunity progress and ensure timely follow-up with prospects.

CRM & Reporting

  • Accurately log prospecting activity, notes, and next steps in the CRM system.
  • Track personal activity metrics, meetings set, and opportunities generated.
  • Participate in regular pipeline and activity review meetings.

Learning & Development

  • Learn commercial furniture product lines, pricing structures, and applications.
  • Develop consultative selling and discovery skills through training and mentorship.
  • Shadow senior reps on client meetings, site walks, and project presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 02 years of experience in sales, business development, or a customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with new contacts.
  • Comfortable with outbound prospecting and handling rejection.
  • Highly motivated, competitive, and goal-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to follow-through.
  • Experience with CRM systems or LinkedIn Sales Navigator is a plus.
  • Interest in commercial furniture, interiors, architecture, or the built environment is preferred.
