About the Role:

The Daycare Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of a childcare facility by providing attentive care and supervision to young children. This position ensures a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social development of each child. The assistant collaborates closely with lead teachers and caregivers to implement age-appropriate activities and routines that foster learning and creativity. Additionally, the role involves maintaining cleanliness and organization within the daycare setting to uphold health and safety standards. Ultimately, the Daycare Assistant contributes to creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for children and their families.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.
• Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• Ability to pass background checks and comply with state childcare regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in CPR and First Aid for infants and children.
• Early Childhood Education coursework or credential.
• Experience with children who have special needs or behavioral challenges.
• Bilingual abilities to support diverse families.
• Previous training in child safety and emergency procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and engage with children during playtime, meals, naps, and educational activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Assist lead teachers in preparing and facilitating age-appropriate learning activities and crafts.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment by tidying play areas, sanitizing toys, and following health protocols.
• Observe and report any behavioral or developmental concerns to the lead teacher or daycare director.
• Support children with personal care tasks such as diapering, toileting, and handwashing as needed.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding daily activities, milestones, and any concerns.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices and regulatory requirements.

The Daycare Assistant utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to build trusting relationships with children, parents, and colleagues. Observational skills are essential for monitoring children's behavior and identifying any developmental or safety concerns promptly.
