Job description

The Technical Trainer / Instructor develops and delivers technical training programs that support the growth of Click Bond's apprenticeship pipeline, technician skill development, and Factory of the Future initiatives. This role ensures Maintenance, Facilities, and Production personnel receive effective hands-on instruction in mechanical, electrical, controls, and troubleshooting fundamentals. The Trainer creates training content, supports on-the-job learning, and partners with cross-functional teams to align skills with organizational needs. Work is performed across classroom, lab, and production floor environments. Safety equipment is required in designated areas.
Apprenticeship Training & Development
  • Deliver instruction for ICATT Mechatronics Apprentices and Production Technicians.
  • Maintain OJT plans, evaluations, and progress tracking.
  • Support apprentice mentoring, coaching, and hands-on skill development.
  • Partner with ICATT apprenticeship organization, community colleges such as TMCC, WNC and external training partners.

Technician Upskilling & Internal Training
  • Design and deliver skills-based courses for Maintenance and Production (electrical basics, controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems).
  • Conduct targeted training sessions based on skill gaps identified by supervisors and managers.
  • Support new technology onboarding, TPM enhancements, and troubleshooting capability improvement.

Curriculum & Materials Development
  • Author training modules, visual aids, assessments, and training videos.
  • Standardize content in alignment with Click Bond procedures and technical standards.
  • Partner with People operations and Learning & Development to integrate courses into the LMS.
  • Maintain training labs, equipment, and learning materials.

Shopfloor Integration & Technical Support
  • Work alongside apprentices and technicians in real shopfloor scenarios.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and equipment improvement projects as educational opportunities.
  • Support reliability and preventive maintenance skill-building through practical instruction.

Program Coordination & Administration
  • Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and progression documentation.
  • Coordinate class scheduling, instructor planning, and resource management.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on program progress, participation, and skill readiness.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Facilities, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, EHS and Production to identify skills required for new equipment and future capability.
  • Support onboarding of new technical employees.
  • Deliver hands-on training for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, electrical safety, and general shopfloor safety practices.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, controls, or mechatronics systems.
  • Demonstrated teaching, coaching, or technical leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, hands-on instruction.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a field such as:
    • Career & Technical Education (CTE)
    • Industrial/Technical Education
    • Adult Learning & Development
    • Engineering Technology
    • Applied Manufacturing Technology
    • OR a related field (Equivalent experience in technical instruction or workforce development accepted.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing challenges and resolving problems.
  • Provide leadership to develop and guide management team.

  • Regularly required to sit or stand for the length of shift, bend and reach.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work performed in a shop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, corrosive or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
