About the Position

The Business Development Representative will work in a client-facing role, identifying and leveraging market opportunities to bolster ALS's business in the region. This role is responsible for growing market share in the Reno, Nevada region by actively engaging prospective clients through lead generation, prospecting, trade show attendance, and client meetings.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Work with the Market Intelligence Analyst and local client services staff to identify and capitalize on business opportunities in the market

  • Represent ALS Geochemistry at regional trade shows, conferences, and Geological Society meetings

  • Complete annual quotation renewals, new work bids, and track client workflow alongside client services staff

  • Meet with prospective clients and visit client sites to better understand their needs and provide solutions

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor throughout their project lifecycle

  • Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across ALS service lines to maximize client value and revenue

  • Utilize CRM and other technology tools to track client interactions, opportunities, and market trends, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting

  • Assist with client tours and ALS client appreciation events at trade shows, alongside client services staff

  • Act as a client advocate within ALS, tracking turnaround times, client priorities, and RUSH work completion

  • Provide a superior client experience by sharing information on analytical methods, quality control, and turnaround times, while proactively resolving questions and concerns

  • Maintain proactive, positive, and responsive communication with clients at all times

  • Maintain regular client communication schedules, including courtesy calls when new work is received or delays occur

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for potential new clients regarding program questions and concerns

  • Follow up on client issues and maintain ongoing communication

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing client feedback and operational insights with internal teams

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager, Business Development, North America

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Post-secondary education in the sciences (geology and/or chemistry preferred) is an asset

  • Some background in science or direct laboratory experience is important to the role

  • Experience working with analytical methods and quality control, preferably in geochemistry, is a plus but not required

  • 1-2 years of experience in client service, project management, or business development is required

  • Experience in geoscience is preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Must be able to travel periodically throughout the year

  • Ability to sit at a desk and perform general office work, including periodic sedentary responsibilities
