The Learning & Development Specialist serves as a resource for HOPES leadership and frontline employees around all things training related. They are responsible for developing and implementing programs and materials that support onboarding/new hire training, compliance training, upskilling, professional development, and employee engagement. They also collaborate with other members of the HR team to support initiatives around recruitment and retention, benefits, and employee relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assess training and development needs at all levels of the organization using various feedbackgathering methods such as surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Create HOPESspecific training and development programs for employees that address identified needs and skill gaps, including programs related to onboarding, professional development, and/or rolespecific skills training.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement training and development programs.
  • Create and/or acquire supplemental training materials such as manuals, howto guides, templates, worksheets, online training modules, videos, slideshows, and suggested reading lists.
  • Deliver inperson and virtual trainings and workshops, including, but not limited to, the following programs: Leadership Development, Annual Performance Evaluations, Annual Goals, Verbal Deescalation, TraintheTrainer, and Mentor/Mentee Orientation.
  • Maintain and update annual compliance training modules to ensure alignment with current regulations and policies, including ensuring correct user group and course assignments.
  • Coach leaders and designated trainers on best practices for delivering training and creating and/or updating training resources.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and other forms of feedback in pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, assessment results, and ongoing or retraining requirements.
  • Cultivate knowledge of trends and best practices related to learning and development, leadership and management skills, instructional design, and human resources topics.
  • Participate in strategic planning around training, development programs, employee engagement, and retention.
  • Build strong relationships across all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Participate in planning and execution of HR Team events and initiatives, including the Internal Networking Fair, Benefits Fair, HOPES Values Awards, and Best Places to Work.
  • May select and train instructors to conduct specific training and development.
  • May evaluate and provide feedback to training instructors
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Due to real and potential conflicts of interest that exist when HOPES Behavioral Health providers render services to their coworkers, it is HOPESโ€™ policy (Policy HR0005) that HOPES employees may not access HOPES Behavioral Health Services. For the same reason, current Behavioral Health patients/clients cannot be employed by HOPES. Accordingly, you hereby acknowledge and understand that if you are receiving services from a HOPES Behavioral Health provider at the time you are offered and accept employment with HOPES, you have the option of rescinding your acceptance of employment or finding a new behavioral health provider outside of HOPES before starting employment with HOPES.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, Business Administration, or a related field required. Proven experience in a similar role may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience in adult training and development, teaching, organizational development, facilitation, instructional design, elearning, and/or human resources is required. Healthcare setting experience preferred.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs required.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to effectively prioritize overlapping tasks/projects required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively work with a wide range of stakeholders required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong research and critical evaluation skills required.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) including content authoring and platform administration preferred.
  • Proficiency with Canva or similar program(s) for graphic design and video/photo editing preferred.
  • Experience with multiline phone systems, copiers, fax machines, and scanners preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRMCP/SHRMSCP preferred.
