About This Role

Aleph Academy, a school where teachers are appreciated and supported, is looking for an additional staff member to assist in classrooms when a teacher is out. Our low ratios, beautiful environment and knowledgeable administration make this the perfect early childhood position. Aleph Academy views our staff's work as crucial to supporting parents and families and an important component in building their own career as well. We strive to provide a fun, friendly, supportive environment. We are looking for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and interested in progressive, high quality education. This position could turn into a full time spot depending on our needs as well as your own needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to get experience at a QRIS five star, NAEYC accredited preschool and be part of a great team! Those with experience working with young children are encouraged to apply.

Position hours will vary depending on needs. Our hours of operation range from 8:00am-5:30pm. And on Fridays we are only open until 4:00pm as we close early. This position could begin as soon as possiblle if you already have all of your licensing requirements (e.g. CPR/First AId, Negative TB Test, Memo of Eligibility, Etc.). THIS JOB IS PART TIME AND AS NEEDED, but does have the possibility to growing into more.


What You'll Do

You will be on call as one of our substitute teaching staff. We will try to give as much notice ahead of time as possible. If you enjoy the position and are interested in more consistent positions at Aleph, please let us know! Below are some of the duries you may be asked to perform:

  • Create a safe classroom environment that is clean, organized, and child‑friendly
  • Teach basic concepts such as letters, numbers, hygiene, and early social behaviors
  • Manage classroom behavior using routines, rules, and positive reinforcement
  • Supervise activities including playtime, meals, bathroom breaks, and nap time
  • Support social–emotional development by encouraging sharing, cooperation, and conflict resolution
  • Track child development through observation, assessment, and documentation on our Kaymbu app
  • Organize classroom materials and prepare supplies for daily activities as needed
  • Collaborate with staff such as aides, specialists, and administrators
  • Maintain Health and Safety standards at all times
  • Be resposible for changing diapers and/or potty training

Requirements
  • Minimum Education — Must have a high school diploma.
  • Schedule Requirements — Must be able to work certain days ranging from 8:45am-4:00pm (minumim) to 8:45pm-5:30pm (Maxmum).
  • Initial childcare training — Required training includes CPR/First Aid, child development, child abuse reporting, SIDS, shaken baby syndrome, emergency preparedness, and safety procedures. All would need to be completed within 90-days of hire.
  • Background checks — State of Nevada requires fingerprinting and criminal background checks for anyone working with children.
  • Professional competencies — Educators must demonstrate knowledge of child development, learning environments, family engagement, and professionalism, as outlined by NAEYC standards.
  • Soft skills & interpersonal abilities — Strong communication, creativity, patience, and classroom‑management skills are essential for working with young children.
  • Ongoing training —The State of Nevada requires annual continuing education hours to maintain employment or licensure in childcare settings.
