Job Opportunity: Retirement Service Specialist at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance

As the Retirement Service Specialist, you’ll be an essential part of our Retirement Services team, contributing to the success of our organization.

Location: Jackson, MS

Role and Responsibilities: The Retirement Service Specialist answers questions from agents and policy owners concerning traditional life, health, disability income, universal life, adjustable premium life, annuities, and long-term care. Performs the appropriate transactions to accomplish service requests on these policies. The Retirement Service Specialist has an area(s) of expertise, but also cross-trains in all aspects to master service of all products.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Answer telephone inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and handle all service related issues.
  • Determine appropriate forms, requirements, and computer transactions to accomplish service requests.
  • Determine whether requests for policy distribution are properly authorized, request checks.
  • Correspond with customers to provide excellent service to all customers.
  • Serve as back-up for all positions in the department.
  • Administer and maintain supplementary contracts, matured annuities, and inforce annuities.
  • Process supplementary contracts of all types; knowledgeable of company and IRS rules regarding these contracts.
  • Have extensive knowledge of our annuity products and a good understanding of the entire phase of an annuity contract.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree and two years’ Customer Service related experience or five years’ customer experience (i.e. call center, banking, insurance, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of servicing of SFB products
  • Proficient knowledge of tax laws as they pertain to SFB products
  • Basic Windows knowledge
  • Proficient knowledge of all policy administration systems and sub-systems, and Ingenium
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to function effectively in the workplace as exhibited through one's integrity, courage to act and communication skills
  • Ability to work with others effectively as exhibited through one's respect for people and commitment to teamwork
  • Ability to meet organizational goals and customer expectations as exhibited through one's accountability for results, commitment to service and initiative
