Role and Responsibilities: The Claims Service Representative must effectively communicate with internal and external customers, including agents, hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, funeral homes, beneficiaries, and reinsurance companies to request and document information relating to a claim. The Claims Service Representative provides clerical support in the processing of death and health claims.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Answer telephones, respond to specific questions in the initial claims process, distinguish when to transfer calls, and take detailed messages.
  • Thoroughly and efficiently gather customer information to complete new claim requests.
  • Set up and maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other material.
  • Open, read, route, and distribute incoming mail and other material. Prepare outgoing correspondence for mailing and distribution.
  • Review work done by others to check for correct spelling and grammar.
  • Prepare IRS Form 712.
  • Perform clerical duties for claims personnel daily.
  • Enter vouchers as needed to process Statements of Insurance.
  • Prepare and distribute outstanding check letters
  • Prepare and distribute claims satisfaction survey cards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associateโ€™s degree and one year of customer service-related experience OR two years of customer service-related experience
  • Basic use of Microsoft Word
  • Ability to type at least 30 wpm
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect and compassion in verbal communication.
  • Ability to organize multiple duties and projects to complete work in a timely manner
  • Good math skills
