Job description

The Learning & Development Specialist partners with leaders, subject matter experts, and employees across VEGA to design, implement, facilitate, and continuously improve learning and development initiatives that support business performance, employee growth, and organizational capability.

This role is responsible for managing development programs, facilitating training, evaluating learning effectiveness, and leading projects that strengthen technical, professional, and leadership development throughout the organization. The position serves as a collaborative partner to departments across VEGA and contributes to the long-term evolution of the company's learning and talent development strategy.  As the organization's learning and development needs evolve, this position will have opportunities to take on increasing responsibility for program management, facilitation, and development initiatives.

Learning Program Management

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve employee development programs, learning pathways, workshops, and training initiatives.
  • Create learning content, facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, and blended learning solutions.
  • Create and distribute training evaluations, surveys, knowledge assessments, and other learning measurement tools.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to develop technical and functional training programs.
  • Ensure learning programs align with organizational goals, competency requirements, and business priorities.
  • Incorporate adult learning principles and modern learning practices into all development initiatives.

Facilitation & Learning Delivery

  • Facilitate selected instructor-led, virtual, and hybrid training programs.
  • Create engaging learning environments that encourage participation, collaboration, and knowledge retention.

Learning Content & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, update, and maintain training materials, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, presentations, and learning resources.
  • Analyze participant feedback, learning data, and program outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to training content, delivery methods, participant engagement, and overall learning effectiveness.
  • Develop metrics and evaluation methods to measure learning effectiveness and business impact.

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Collaborate with managers, subject matter experts, department leaders, subject matter experts, and Human Resources to identify training needs and support employee development initiatives.
  • Assist in the design, development, and continuous improvement of learning pathways, workshops, development programs, and training initiatives.

Training Administration & Program Coordination

  • Coordinate and administer company-wide learning and development programs, leadership development initiatives, onboarding activities, technical training, and employee development programs.
  • Manage training schedules, participant registrations, feedback, attendance tracking, training records, certifications, learning histories, and development program documentation.
  • Maintain and communicate the annual training calendar, adjusting schedules and coordinating changes as business needs evolve.
  • Coordinate training logistics including meeting rooms, virtual learning environments, equipment, materials, catering, and other resources necessary for successful program delivery.
  • Communicate training schedules, program updates, and changes to participants, managers, facilitators, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor participation, completion rates, certification requirements, and other training metrics, providing regular updates to the Training Manager and Human Resources Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Associates degree or High school Diploma 
  • AND one (1) to three (3) years of related experience and/or training.
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication, project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience coordinating programs, managing multiple priorities, and working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating training for various audiences
  • Proficiency with HRIS software, Learning Management System and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
