Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Department of Biology as a Learning Assistant on the Savannah Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities

• Partners with a BIOL 1107 or BIOL 3220 lecture instructor and attends all lectures for the course
• Provides support to students during the delivery of the instruction
• Hosts scheduled office hours/tutoring sessions each week to support enrolled students
• Meets with the Learning Assistant (LA) coordinator weekly to discuss challenges and strategies in supporting student learning
• Provides online support via email and/or Zoom as necessary

Shift Specifics

• Up to 10 hours per week
• Flexible with schedule of availability

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education

• Have taken BIOL 1107 or BIOL 3220 and earned an A or B in the course

Proposed Salary
$12.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
