Position Summary
Security Bank of Kansas City is dedicated to serving not only our customers but also investing in the growth, development, and advancement of our employees. The VP/Organizational Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for leading organizational development efforts in the areas of career and leadership development, employee retention and succession and community engagement. This role will report directly to the SVP/Director of Learning & Development and will play a critical role in fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders, identifying, and developing development programs, enhancing our organizational culture, and driving employee advancement and engagement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
Organizational Development
  • Assess the bank's opportunities to enhance organizational training and learning initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies that foster growth, inclusion, and retention. Support leadership in implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the bank.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to identify positions at-risk of turnover and proactively identify employees to develop and prepare for advancement.
  • Facilitate current and new training solutions via in-person or Teams to meet needs of the bank.

Leadership and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with department managers to align organizational development initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Develop curriculum for Management and Leadership programs that provide our employees with the opportunity to grow their knowledge, skill sets and advancement potential.
  • Evaluate opportunities for leadership to interact and engage with employees that provides employees with an opportunity to provide feedback, ask questions and introduce themselves to leadership.

Employee Growth, Development and Advancement
  • Using organizational data, create a career roadmap for employees to illustrate the vast advancement opportunities with the Bank.
  • Utilizing data obtained by employee surveys, bring forward recommendations to enhance the employee experience.
  • Develop a robust onboarding platform that creates a good first impression that follows the new hire through their first year of employment.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of organizational development efforts.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, collect feedback, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, assessment results, and performance metrics.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance the impact of learning initiatives.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to training content, delivery methods, and processes based on evaluation findings.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations to communicate progress, accomplishments, and areas for growth to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and trends to ensure the Bank's learning and development remain relevant and competitive.

Community Engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and schools to understand Financial Literacy needs and opportunities.
  • Identify community engagement opportunities that qualify for CRA credit.
  • Identify, coordinate, and represent the Bank at community engagement Financial Literacy initiatives.

Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
  • Oversee the administration of the bank's Learning Management System (LMS), including user management, content uploading, and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide user support to ensure smooth operation of the LMS.
  • Additional duties/tasks as assigned

Minimum Education & Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or related field.
  2. Five+ years of firsthand experience developing, implementing and evaluating organizational learning, development and growth initiatives.
  3. Strong understanding of adult learning styles, stakeholder engagement strategies, and organizational development practices.
  4. Experience with Learning Management Systems and executing continual adult learning strategies
  5. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Valued, but not required skills & experience
  • Master's Degree in Adult Learning or Education
  • Familiarity with OnCourse Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Previous Banking or Financial Services experience. Familiar with the legal and regulatory environment a plus.
