Location:ย  Corporate Office

Reports To: Senior Manager of Organizational Development

FLSA:ย Exemptย

Role Summary
The Learning Experience & Content Specialist designs, develops, and maintains high-impact online learning solutions that support organizational performance, leadership development, compliance, safety, and operational training needs. This is a fast-paced, hands-on instructional design and eLearning development role, with approximately 80% of the work focused on building digital learning content for deployment through the learning management system (LMS).
This role partners with business leaders and subject matter experts to translate operational needs into structured, engaging, LMS-ready learning experiences. The ideal candidate brings strong instructional design capability, proven experience developing online courses, confidence using eLearning authoring tools or comparable digital content platforms, and the ability to turn complex information into practical, learner-friendly digital training.
ย

What this role is: a builder of digital, self-paced eLearning. The core work is creating courses inside authoring tools and deploying them in an LMS.
What this role is not: this is not primarily a classroom-teaching, training-coordination, or graphic-design role. Facilitation and visual design support the work but are not the focus.
ย

Core Responsibilities

Learning Design & Content Development (40%)

  • ย Design and develop online learning solutions โ€” primarily eLearning courses and digital training modules โ€” applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies. Additional deliverables may include job aids, facilitator guides, blended learning materials, assessments, and structured learning resources.
  • ย Create storyboards, learning outlines, curriculum structures, and learner journeys aligned to business objectives and performance needs.
  • ย Curate internal and external content to support technical, compliance, professional development, and leadership training initiatives.
  • ย Maintain version control and quality standards so learning materials stay accurate, engaging, and operationally relevant.
  • ย Evaluate learner feedback, engagement data, and business input to recommend improvements that strengthen learning effectiveness and usability.

Leadership Development & Program Support (15%)

  • Support the design, build, and continuous improvement of enterprise leadership development programs and academy content, including the resources, activities, and materials that align to leadership capability and business priorities.
  • ย Assist in facilitating workshops, pilot programs, and learning sessions with a polished, professional presence, and gather participant feedback to refine the leadership learning experience.

SME Consulting, Needs Analysis & Content Alignment (20%)

  • ย Partner with subject matter experts and business leaders to identify learning needs, clarify objectives, and translate operational requirements into effective learning solutions.
  • ย Conduct discovery conversations and ask thoughtful questions to surface the who, what, when, where, how, and why behind each learning request.
  • ย Recommend content structures, learning approaches, and engagement strategies that align with business needs and learner realities.
  • ย Ensure content is clear, practical, and aligned with regulatory, compliance, HR, safety, DOT, and OSHA expectations where applicable.

Learning Technology & Media Development (15%)

  • ย Develop, publish, upload, review, and test digital learning content for LMS deployment using eLearning authoring tools, multimedia tools, and digital learning platforms โ€” for example, Articulate Rise, Articulate Storyline, Lectora, Camtasia, ScreenPal, Adobe applications (including Premiere), Microsoft Stream, or comparable technologies.
  • ย Create multimedia learning content, including presentations, video-based learning, screen recordings, and interactive materials.
  • ย Partner with the Learning Systems & Operations Specialist to deploy, test, and validate content within the LMS.
  • ย Use technology to improve learner experience, accessibility, efficiency, and content quality.

Cross-Functional Support & Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • ย Research learning trends, emerging technologies, and innovative practices to improve learning solutions and delivery methods.
  • ย Partner with the Learning Systems & Operations Specialist to keep deployed content current and accurate over time.
  • ย Participate in cross-functional initiatives and special projects in support of departmental and enterprise priorities.
  • ย Demonstrate adaptability by adjusting priorities, responsibilities, and work approaches in response to evolving business needs, growth initiatives, and leadership direction.

Skills

  • ย Strong research, instructional design, and eLearning development capability.
  • ย Working knowledge of adult learning principles, learning objectives, content sequencing, engagement strategies, and assessment design.
  • ย Ability to storyboard, script, organize, and build digital learning experiences that translate complex operational topics into structured, learner-friendly online content.
  • ย Strong consulting, stakeholder partnership, and discovery-conversation skills.
  • ย Strong creativity, critical thinking, and solution orientation.
  • ย Professional facilitation and presentation skills for workshops, pilots, and stakeholder sessions.
  • ย High attention to detail, with disciplined organization, version control, and a commitment to quality.
  • ย Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities effectively.
  • ย Ability to leverage generative AI tools to improve efficiency in learning design, content development, reporting, and workflow execution while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards.

Qualifications
This is a hands-on instructional design and eLearning development role. Candidates must be able to create online learning content, build LMS-ready courses, and use digital authoring tools or comparable learning technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in organizational development, education, business, human resources, communications, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Two or more years of experience designing and developing online learning, eLearning courses, digital training modules, or LMS-based learning materials in a business, corporate, or organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated application of instructional design frameworks, adult learning principles, learning objectives, content sequencing, learner engagement strategies, and assessment design to digital learning solutions.
  • Experience using eLearning authoring tools, digital course development platforms, multimedia tools, or comparable learning technologies to build online learning content.
  • Ability to create storyboards, course outlines, scripts, knowledge checks, assessments, job aids, and structured materials for online or blended delivery.
  • Experience publishing, uploading, reviewing, or testing learning content within an LMS or digital learning environment.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, OneDrive, and related collaboration and content tools.
  • ATD, CPTD, or related certification is a plus.

Candidates will be asked to provide a portfolio, sample course, storyboard, design document, or example of online learning content they have personally developed.
