The Opportunity

As a member of the Global HR Talent Development team (co/lab), the Learning and Development Specialist designs, builds, delivers, and evaluates learning solutions for various BV stakeholders to create engaging learning experiences and measure training effectiveness. They incorporate various learning approaches: instructor-led training (both in-person and virtual), eLearning (web-based training), blended learning, and on-the-job learning.


The ideal candidate has a passion for adult learning, works independently without daily supervision, demonstrates strong facilitation skills, makes data-driven decisions, and is able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts learning needs analyses through stakeholder consultations, surveys, interviews, and performance data reviews.
  • Leads the design and development of business, technical and core skills training for Black & Veatch by working with BV leaders and subject-matter experts.
  • Uses instructional design skills to develop classroom, virtual classroom, and eLearning solutions, including the creation of facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, and other resources.
  • Maintains learning records and ensures effective use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other digital learning technologies such as LinkedIn Learning.
  • Delivers training sessions, workshops, and programs to BV employees.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and other data to recommend continuous improvements.
  • Works with the co/lab team to consult on Global Talent Development learning strategies, learning approaches and strategic initiatives to deliver impactful training content.
  • Coordinates and executes logistics in support of learning programs, training, and events ranging in scale from individual courses to multi-week events for both local and off-site locations, for both internal and external participants.
  • Occasionally identifies and leads internal process improvements, which lead to operational excellence.
  • Request data, create/update reports, and work with other teams to develop automated reporting, as needed.
