Job Title: Lead, Systems Engineer - *Sign-on bonuses between $15,000K - $25,000K*

Job Description:

L3Harris is actively seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (SE) to support requirement development, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on airborne platforms.ย  In this role, the candidate will ensure that customer needs are understood, documented, and agreed upon.ย  The Lead SE will lead the Avionics/Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop the technical solution requirements and ensure the as-built product meets the requirement baseline.ย  The Lead SE should possess a strong Systems Engineering background and exemplary leadership skills to effectively lead the development team.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the Avionics/Mission Systems IPT which develops the technical solution for Programs incorporating avionics and communication equipment into airborne systems for Military and Commercial Customers.
  • Translate the Customer requirements into unique and verifiable system-level requirements.
  • Ensure traceability and define requirement verification methods.
  • Lead System Engineering trade study processes.
  • Evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write subsystem specifications based on system-level requirements.
  • Evaluate alternative solutions and establish the overall system design.
  • Review and approve verification test procedures to ensure that the system performance and capabilities meet the system requirements.
  • Approve the Technical Data Package (electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical integration drawings, analysis reports, etc.) and ensure that the design details trace to the system requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver effective presentations that communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Work closely with Project Engineering and Program Management.
  • Ability to travel CONUS up to 10%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years prior relevant Systems Engineering experience.ย  Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related Systems Engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning, guidance, and Engineering execution within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience in Aircraft Integration and Test & Delivery.
  • Previous experience defining, allocating, decomposing, managing, and verifying requirements.
  • Experience utilizing standard Microsoft Office suite of applications as well as DOORS, JIRA, Visio, TeamCenter PLM, Cameo System Modeler, et al.
  • Ability to travel as needed based on business demands.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience conducting First Article verification testing.
  • Experience using MBSE methodology.
  • Experience communicating with Subcontractors, U.S. Government Customers, and internal & external Customer Stakeholders.
  • Experience with FAA (STC) and Military (MTC) certification activities
  • Experience with civil and commercial avionics systems, as well as commercial aircraft communication systems.
  • Experience with the DMSMS process.
