Job description

Summary:
The Process Engineer at NK Parts Industries, INC. plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by designing, improving, and standardizing processes that enhance safety, quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance. This position requires strong technical skills, including the ability to design and draw custom fixtures and tooling to support production and warehouse efficiency. The Process Engineer will partner closely with production teams, supervisors, and cross-functional departments to ensure sustainable improvements and to drive strategic initiatives in alignment with company goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (performed regularly)
  • Lead and support cost-per-unit reduction initiatives, equipment upgrades, and automation projects.
  • Conduct time studies and line balancing to improve throughput and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, streamline workflows, and improve space utilization in production and warehouse environments at a Just-In-Time Pace
  • Partner with Quality and Safety teams to ensure all processes meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production supervisors and associates on new processes, fixtures, and equipment.
  • This is an onsite position. All hours worked will be in person at one of our locations.

Other Duties that may be assigned
  • Fixture & Tooling Design: Design, draw, and implement fixtures, jigs, and tooling that improve efficiency, reduce ergonomic risk, and enhance product quality.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues using root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Support new product launches, customer requirements, and process changes to ensure smooth integration into NK Parts' operations.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Facilities on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
  • The position will primarily be first shift hours. The hours may need to be flexed to accommodate second shift and/or third shift based on the customer's needs.
  • Develop, document, and standardize manufacturing and logistics processes, including work instructions and SOPs.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (required).
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing engineering or related experience in logistics, warehousing, or production environments. (required)
  • Experience in fixture design, machine shop practices, and CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent) (required)
  • Knowledge and understanding of: The 5 S's, the 4 M's and the 3 F's
  • Previous experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects is preferred
  • AGV/ Automation would be a preferred skill but not required

Skills & Competencies:
  • Knowledge of logistics, Deployment of Material Services, integration, material flow, and ergonomics.
  • Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success driving cost, safety, and quality improvements.
  • Strong ability to design and draw fixtures, tooling, and production aids (occasionally)

While performing the duties of this job the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Office and production floor environment, with regular presence in manufacturing and warehouse areas. Time is usually split as 75% on the floor and 25% being in the office
  • Occasional travel to other NK Parts facilities, customers, or suppliers.
  • Required use of PPE (safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, etc.) on the production floor.
