What is lead generation?

Lead generation is the process of identifying and attracting potential customers (leads) for a business’s products or services. This is typically achieved through marketing tactics such as online advertising, content marketing, email campaigns, and social media outreach. The goal is to gather contact information from prospects who are interested in what a company offers, nurturing them through the sales funnel until they become paying customers. Lead generation is crucial for business growth as it helps maintain a steady pipeline of new clients.

What are some common challenges faced in a lead generation role, and how can candidates prepare to overcome them?

One of the main challenges in lead generation is consistently identifying and engaging high-quality prospects amidst a large volume of potential leads. Candidates may also encounter gatekeepers or resistance from prospects, requiring persistence and strong communication skills. Staying up-to-date with the latest tools and trends, as well as collaborating closely with sales and marketing teams, can help overcome these obstacles. Being proactive in adjusting strategies based on data analysis and feedback is key to long-term success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lead generation specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lead Generation Specialist, you need strong research abilities, proficiency in sales or marketing fundamentals, and experience with CRM software, typically supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and email marketing platforms is commonly required. Outstanding communication, persistence, and analytical thinking are vital soft skills for engaging prospects and refining outreach strategies. These skills and tools are essential for consistently identifying, qualifying, and nurturing leads to drive business growth.

Infoworks fully automates both the creation and operation of big data workflows from source to consumption, helping Fortune 100 customers successfully implement to production in days or weeks using 5x fewer people.  Our SaaS software runs both on-premises and in the cloud.

Get in on the ground floor.  We have only recently come out of stealth and launched sales and have several Fortune 100 customers already in deployment.

Job Description

The (Sr.) Director of Demand Generation and Marketing Operations will get to lead  Infoworks B2B digital lead generation, event marketing, and marketing operations strategy, execution and metrics.

Are you a results-oriented leader with proven expertise leveraging multiple channels to drive leads and pipeline generation efforts at scale?  Do you want to have the opportunity to build out the lead generation and lead qualification infrastructure and processes you have always wanted?  Do you like to generate leads for sales that turn into closed/won business?

  • Create integrated campaigns across paid search, display, content syndication, digital media, webinars, email marketing and field marketing.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and incremental business growth potential and develop business cases.
  • Work closely with the sales organization to optimize the lead to pipeline to close business process.
