Job Summary
The Municipal Market Strategic Account Manager is responsible for driving Ruhrpumpen (RP) sales growth within the municipal (public money) infrastructure market by partnering with major engineering entities. This role provides technical expertise, supports design development, and ensures RP products are specified in municipal projects for water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, and public works projects. In summary the job is to define and execute sales strategies to increase RP’s market penetration via new and existing municipal focused major accounts throughout North America.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Relationship management:
    • Develop/maintain strategic relationships at all levels with major regional/national/international engineering and contractor firms, as well as state/interstate governmental agencies (USACE, TVA, LCRA, etc.)
    • Position RP as their specialist for pumping technology at all project stages
  • Technical selling:
    • Consultative selling approach for all RP products
    • Conduct product presentations (in person sessions & virtual)
    • Assist with system design, product selection, & specification language
    • Have extensive knowledge of pumping products used in municipal market applications (to include applications experience)
  • Market development:
    • Identify upcoming projects at all design stages
    • Track regional/national trends of capital improvement and/or infrastructure funding to ensure RP is positioned correctly on major projects.
    • High knowledge of RP competitor abilities & geographic presence
    • Solid understanding of sales processes and market positioning
  • Bid support to ensure product that RP specifies/quotes is optimum for customer needs:
    • Deal with many RP internal teams…specifically:
      • External (customer-facing) Sales Engineers
      • Internal (applications, etc.) Sales Engineers
      • Sales Management
      • Product Line Management teams
      • Operations
      • Field Services
      • Legal
    • Deal with many RP external sales support teams…specifically:
      • Major sub-vendors (motors, seals, controls, etc.)
      • RP representatives
Job requirements:
  • Minimum seven years of relevant experience (with specific knowledge as identified above)
  • Demonstrated ability to have successfully managed a national territory with sales success
  • Degree in engineering, industrial distribution, or equivalent discipline
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact professionally at all customer organizational levels
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills
  • MS Office Products knowledge
  • CRM knowledge
  • Availability and willingness to travel within North America up to 50% of the time
