Physical Requirements
Regularly standing or walking with objects up to 10 lbs., repetitive motion and utilizing a computer for long periods of time. Ability to traverse campus to work at multiple locations.
Shift
This position is located in a department that operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The position will have a primary shift to be determined by the department. However, the candidate must be available to work rotating weekends, holidays and other shifts as needed by the department.
Job Summary
The Medical Lab Technician/UKHC will be responsible for assisting in the pre-analytical support for a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children's Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position is in the Central Processing/Receiving department within the Clinical Laboratory and the Processing/ Receiving Department with the Emergency Department Laboratory. The MLT will provide general laboratory receipt, processing, and throughput of patient specimens while adhering to HIPAA requirements. The MLT will also provide support to all other clinical laboratories within the Enterprise, as well as customer service for all internal and external customers. This is a team-oriented environment and a successful candidate will be able to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and multi-task.
