Job Description Billing Manager (Hybrid) - Law Firm Our client, a well-established and highly respected law firm, is seeking an experienced Billing Manager to lead its billing operations in a hybrid work environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys managing people, improving processes, and partnering with attorneys and firm leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and client-focused billing operations. The Billing Manager will oversee the firm's day-to-day billing department, supervise a team of billing professionals, and serve as the primary resource for billing systems, e-billing platforms, reporting, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will have prior law firm billing management experience, exceptional leadership skills, and expertise with legal billing software and e-billing platforms. Key Responsibilities Manage the firm's daily billing operations, ensuring timely and accurate client invoicing while meeting billing deadlines. Lead, mentor, train, and develop a team of billing professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Partner with attorneys, clients, and administrative staff to resolve billing inquiries, discrepancies, and client account issues. Ensure compliance with outside counsel billing guidelines and client-specific billing requirements. Oversee the firm's e-billing operations, including maintaining billing systems, client instructions, billing rates, and electronic invoice submissions.

Maintain and administer e-billing platforms, including Legal Tracker, CounselLink, TyMetrix 360, Passport, Ascent, and other client billing portals. Generate and review prebills, billing reports, and audit reports to ensure billing accuracy and identify opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure proper coding of expenses and accurate financial reporting.

Maintain accurate billing records, payment information, and financial documentation in accordance with firm policies and accounting standards. Identify opportunities to improve billing workflows, streamline processes, and enhance operational efficiencies. Serve as a resource for billing system questions and assist with special projects as assigned.

Ensure compliance with firm policies, client guidelines, and legal billing requirements. Provide backup support for key accounting and billing functions as needed. Leadership Responsibilities Supervise and develop the billing team through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

Promote accountability, collaboration, and exceptional client service. Establish best practices and standard operating procedures to improve consistency and efficiency. Lead process improvement initiatives and help implement new technologies and reporting tools.

Partner with firm leadership to support strategic operational initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five years of billing experience within a professional services environment.

At least two years of experience managing and developing billing professionals. Law firm billing experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Elite 3E or a comparable legal billing system is highly preferred.

Strong working knowledge of electronic billing platforms, including Legal Tracker, CounselLink, TyMetrix 360, Passport, Ascent, and similar systems. Strong understanding of legal billing procedures, accounting principles, and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze data and generate meaningful reports.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities with a strong customer service mindset. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience leading process improvements and implementing operational efficiencies. Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or travel as business needs require.
