Job description

Company Description Qualia: The School for Deeper Learning is a grade 5โ€“12 private school that functions as an intentional community, not just an academic institution. The school is designed as a model and incubator for a more humane society grounded in authentic dialogue and mutual respect. Qualia emphasizes joyful inquiry, encouraging learners to explore ideas with curiosity and creativity. Our mission is to support students in shaping thoughtful, purposeful lives. Educators join a collaborative environment that values reflection, innovation, and student-centered learning.

Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Latin Instructor role located at Calabasas Private High School, part of Qualia in the Los Angeles, CA area. The Latin Instructor will teach high school Latin courses, design engaging lessons that build reading, translation, and grammatical skills, and cultivate an appreciation for classical literature and culture. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, leading discussions, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining clear communication with students, families, and colleagues. The instructor will collaborate with other faculty to integrate Latin and classical studies into broader interdisciplinary learning and support the schoolโ€™s emphasis on dialogue-based, inquiry-driven education. • Ability to foster inclusive classroom dialogue, support diverse learning styles, and create a respectful, engaging environment for all students.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and colleagues in a reflective, community-oriented school setting.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Classics, Latin, Education, or a related field; advanced degree or teaching credential in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Prior experience teaching Latin at the middle or high school level, or equivalent instructional experience with adolescents.
  • Comfort integrating technology into instruction and using digital tools to support learning and assessment.
  • Commitment to Qualiaโ€™s mission of deeper learning, authentic dialogue, and joyful inquiry, and willingness to participate in ongoing professional growth.
