The agency is currently seeking a creative and dynamic individual to join its' team as a full-time Customized Employment Specialist.

Job Description:

The Customized Employment Specialist works with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in LARC's Community Day Services facility. The Employment Specialist assists individuals to be able to work within the community by maximizing the person's strengths, interests and abilities. The aim is for the individual to not only achieve employment, but also acquire the skills to become a productive and valuable employee. The Employment Specialist will build bridges and long-lasting relationships between employers and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals to gain and retain employment opportunities.
  • Identify skills and abilities for requirements of specific employment situations
  • Assist individuals on resume writing and interviewing skills.
  • Provide outreach/recruitment to local, targeted community agencies, government entities and schools to market the program to potential referral sources.
  • Obtain and evaluate all pertinent information about each individual, including employment restrictions, qualifications, health, availability, etc.
  • Provide expertise and technical assistance on customized employment and training.
  • Maintain confidentiality and support privacy at all times.
