Employment Type: Full-Time
Hours: 8-hour shifts - start time varies between 5am to 9am
Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, KS
We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor, internally referred to as a Blood Bank Hematology Supervisor, Clinical Lab Supervisor or Blood Bank Supervisor. The Blood Bank Supervisor will oversee the blood bank or transfusion service, ensuring the safe and efficient management of blood products and services.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the blood bank staff and hematology staff, including medical technologists, technicians, and support staff which will involve scheduling, training, and evaluating performance
  • Oversee the storage of blood and blood products, ensure that all procedures comply with regulatory standards and hospital protocols
  • Implement and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure the safety and accuracy of blood products and transfusions
  • Manage the inventory of blood products and supplies, including ordering, storing, and tracking, confirm that adequate stock levels are maintained to meet patient needs
  • Confirm that blood transfusions are performed safely and effectively, and manage any adverse reactions or complications
  • Supervise the documentation and reporting of blood bank activities, including inventory records, transfusion statistics, and compliance reports
  • Address and resolve any issues or challenges related to blood bank operations, including technical problems, staffing issues, and compliance concerns

Qualifications
  • ASCP certification, or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum five years of clinical laboratory work experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
  • Current and valid state license if the laboratory is located in a state where required
