Employment & Labor Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking an Employment & Labor Associate Attorney to join a leading global law firm with a highly regarded Employment & Labor practice. This opportunity is available in Atlanta, Charleston, or Short Hills.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of sophisticated employment counseling and litigation matters for local, national, and multinational employers. The ideal candidate will have strong employment law experience, excellent litigation skills, and a collaborative approach to client service.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day employment and human resources counseling to clients
  • Draft, review, and analyze employment agreements, employee handbooks, workplace policies, severance agreements, and related employment documents
  • Handle employment litigation matters, including single-plaintiff lawsuits, wage and hour class actions, ERISA matters, and administrative proceedings
  • Manage all phases of litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings and trial proceedings
  • Advise clients on sensitive personnel issues, workplace investigations, and policy implementation
  • Support clients on traditional labor and NLRB-related matters as needed
  • Assist with employment-related due diligence in mergers and acquisitions transactions
  • Help formulate litigation and case strategy in collaboration with partners and team members
  • Conduct and support internal investigations
  • Collaborate with attorneys across the practice group on additional employment and labor matters as needed
Qualifications
  • 2–6 years of employment litigation and counseling experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and workplace-related legal issues
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience handling employment litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal and client service skills
  • Trial experience is a plus
  • Licensed and in good standing in the jurisdiction where the candidate will practice
