Job description

As a Testing Lab Technician at Chapin, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of products through precise laboratory testing and analysis. Your work will directly impact production efficiency and product compliance with industry standards and regulations. The TLT will be responsible for preparing samples, conducting tests, and accurately recording data to support manufacturing processes. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as quality control, production, and engineering will be essential to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements.


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct wide variety of environmental and functional tests and measurements for new product evaluation, development, qualification and general support of engineering and manufacturing for Chapin International.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of test procedures, test set-up, data sheets, data summaries and test reports.
  • Accurately control tests
  • Provide a safe, clean and orderly testing environment.
  • Use sound technical and ethical judgment in the execution of formal and informal test procedures and interpretation of test results
  • Assist with problem solving, be hands-on for prototype manufacture or special test configurations, and contribute to improvements of the lab.
  • Perform complex assembly, test and measurement operations.
  • Accurately record test setups, results and conclusions and maintain permanent records of such.
  • Ensure the proper calibration of all test equipment at all times, and advise when equipment is not functioning as required.
  • Maintain all equipment, instruments and data acquisition hardware in the engineering laboratory.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in product testing or quality control.
  • Capability and experience in the proper use of tools common to the mechanical and manufacturing trades.
  • Ability to work under time constraints
  • Ability to perform duties with minimum or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
