Job description

Quality Lab Technician
Location: Verona, MS (Tupelo)
Department: Quality
Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
Position Overview
The Quality Lab Technician plays a key role in ensuring Ashley Furniture products meet stringent quality standards and customer expectations. This position is responsible for collecting test samples, performing laboratory testing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documenting results, and communicating findings to the appropriate personnel. When results indicate issues requiring immediate attention, the Quality Lab Technician must promptly escalate concerns to management. Additionally, this role assists in the cross-training and development of other lab technicians to maintain a skilled and flexible team.
Primary Job Functions
Testing & Documentation
  • Obtain accurate test samples and conduct testing procedures in accordance with all SOPs and quality standards.
  • Document all test results clearly and distribute findings to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Immediately alert management when test results indicate the need for corrective action.
Training & Team Support
  • Assist in administering cross-training for lab technicians to ensure adequate coverage and team capability.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to communicate departmental updates, goals, and issues.
  • Support team development through weekly coaching, training, and company-provided learning activities.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
  • Demonstrate Ashley's Core and Growth Values in all job duties and interactions.
  • Follow and support all Ashley Furniture policies and procedures.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuing education.
  • Assist in training other employees and providing departmental backup as needed.

  • Complete additional tasks, assignments, and special projects as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or laboratory coursework preferred.
  • Laboratory or quality assurance experience preferred (manufacturing environment ideal).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to follow procedures, adhere to guidelines, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
