Job Role Summary

The Human Resources Support Technician assists with day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Section. The Human Resources Support Technician provides administrative support to the Human Resources Section with various HR functions to include the processing of all personnel/payroll changes, file maintenance and benefits. The Human Resources Support Technician is responsible for executing HR initiatives and providing guidance to employees and maintaining HR systems.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the accuracy and completion of all human resource information is routed to Eskenazi Health Human Resources Department to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Participates in the recruitment process for all sections of IEMS.
  • Communicates and corresponds with prospective applicants seeking information regarding employment opportunities and is responsible for thorough follow-up on each inquiry.
  • Maintains the applicant tracking systems by opening and closing positions, updating position information and reassignment of positions.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves all applicant and system issues related to the HR applicant tracking and HRIS.
  • Responsible for coordinating offers of employment, background screening, scheduling of uniform fitting, fit testing, new hire physical examinations, etc.
  • Assists with maintaining listing of current licenses/certifications as required by regulatory bodies by checking them online with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security / Fire and Building Safety Division and performing background checks on newly hired employees.
  • Enters and monitors data into HRIS system ensuring accuracy of information.
  • New hires, status changes, pay changes and termination paperwork.
  • Updates employee change information into the HRIS database.
  • Processes merit increases and annual promotions.
  • Monitors and processes attendance for IEMS
  • Distributes benefit enrollment information to new hires and assists with benefits enrollment.
  • Assists and communicates with Occupational Health regarding all work-related injuries to include monitoring and filing of work restrictions and return to work documentation.
  • Schedules students, civilians, and medical/nursing students with operations crews for emergency ride outs
  • Proactively recommends ideas for process improvement and prudent use of resources.
  • Develops and maintains trusting relationships with staff and leadership.
  • Reports sensitive and high-profile issues timely to leadership.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by leadership.

Job Requirements
  • Associate degree in human resources preferred
  • In lieu of degree, 1 to 3 years' experience in Human Resources or Administrative experience required.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task. Ability to plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
