THE ROLE: The Production Sweater Technical Designer will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of sweater production, ensuring that designs are accurately translated from concept to final product. This role requires a detailed-oriented professional with a strong understanding of sweater construction, knit techniques, and garment fit. The ideal candidate will work closely with designers, pattern makers, and manufacturers to ensure that all products meet the brand's quality, fit, and aesthetic standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and review detailed technical packages (tech packs) for sweater designs, including specifications for yarn, stitch, construction, measurements, and finishing techniques.
  • Conduct fit sessions, analyze garment samples, and provide clear, actionable feedback to ensure proper fit and construction, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with domestic and international manufacturers to address any technical issues, clarify design intent, and ensure accurate sample production.
  • Review and approve pre-production and production samples, ensuring consistency in fit, construction, and quality.
  • Utilize your knowledge of yarns, knitting machines, and knitting techniques to optimize the production process and achieve desired design outcomes.
  • Identify and resolve any technical issues that arise during the production process, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective solutions.
  • Work closely with the design team to ensure that the final product aligns with the creative vision while meeting technical and production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all technical specifications, fit comments, and revisions throughout the development and production process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a technical designer, with a focus on knitwear, particularly sweaters.
  • Strong knowledge of sweater construction, knitting techniques, yarn properties, and garment fit.
  • Proficiency in creating and updating technical packages (tech packs) and using design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to both internal teams and external manufacturers.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with both domestic and international factories is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sustainable knitwear practices is a plus.
  • Background in Centric PLM experience would be great!

The annual salary range for this full-time role is dependent on experience between $80,000 - $100,000.
