General Function
The Knife Operator's responsibilities include: Assists team members to produce quality product in an efficient manner while following HACCP, Good Manufacturing practices and production work lists.

Reporting Relations
Accountable and Reports to: Director of Meat Operations, Production Managers and Supervisors
Positions that Report to you: None
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and ensuring food safety. Report any food safety deviations to your supervisor immediately.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time. Adheres to company policies and departmental guidelines.
  • Follows production list provided by supervisor.
  • Ability to understand weights/measures and identify correct packaging.
  • Following company GMP's and SOP's.
  • Portion cut product to specific weights.
  • Must be able to sharpen knife.
  • Perform various clean up duties such as cleaning scales, maintaining knives and others.
  • Must be able to read and understand product dating requirements.
  • Works alongside others on a line or independently to complete production and clean up requirements.
  • Performs other job-related duties and assists in other areas of plant as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
  • Knife cutting skills.
  • Ability to sharpen a knife.
  • Attention to detail and follow through.
  • Ability to read and interpret written or verbal instructions.
  • Must be knowledgeable of safety program, procedures, sanitary practices and standards.

Education and Experience:
  • Prefer food manufacturing and knife cutting experience.

Physical Requirements:
This is considered an unskilled position. Frequent to constant handling, grasping, constant listening, talking, hearing, seeing, reading, dealing with people, influencing others, evaluating information, supervising a line.
Working Conditions:
  • Duties performed in production area.
  • Will be required to work in other production capacities or seek supplies in warehouse as needed.
  • Ability to adapt to changes throughout daily operation.
  • Ability to move, stand bend and lift throughout work shift.
  • Job requires standing/sitting in place for all of shift.

Production machinery, Knives, Copy machine and Two-way radio.
