Company Description

The Pipe Machine Operator is responsible for operating and assisting in the maintenance of pipe machines to produce castings of various sizes. This role requires precise handling of molten iron, ensuring accurate pours based on pipe specifications, and maintaining product quality through close observation and timely adjustments. Operators play a critical role in supporting safe and efficient production processes.

Job Description
  • Operate Spun Pipe Machines, pouring molten iron into spinning molds to produce castings of assorted sizes.
  • Inspect and adjust the timing cycle of pouring ladles and spin stations at the start of each shift.
  • Determine the appropriate amount of iron to pour based on pipe size and type.
  • Use hand control systems to pour iron, visually monitoring scale weights to ensure proper amounts are transferred from the holding ladle to the pouring ladle.
  • Monitor molds during pouring to identify and address any changes in product quality.
  • Maintain equipment by removing excess slag from holding ladles, pouring ladles, and boots using tools such as punch rods, chipping hammers, and air hammers.
  • Perform quick repairs, such as applying mud to pouring ladle lips in case of burn-out.
  • Support maintenance activities during machine breakdowns, including using air hoists to replace pouring ladles, and record downtime accurately.
  • Provide relief and assistance at other Spun Pipe Machine stations as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain clean and safe work areas.
  • While the above responsibilities will be the primary focus of this job, the company reserves the right to assign additional duties as necessary to meet operational needs.

  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods in a high-temperature environment.
