Job Overview
Fairview Range is hiring a Kitchen Assistant for Nutrition Services Department in Hibbing, MN.
As a Kitchen Assistant you will be responsible for duties in the role of Expediter, Hostess and Dish room attendant. You will assist with patient, cafeteria and special function meal service in accordance with established menus and departmental policy. Employees in this position need to maintain a friendly and cheerful demeanor at all times.
Schedule: This position will be Casual, working 0-40 hours per pay period. Anticipated schedule will be 3:30-7:30pm and includes every other weekend. May be opportunity to pick up more hours including dayshifts when openings are available.

Responsibilities
  • Performs duties related to food production
  • Plating, assembling, preparing & garnishing patient meal tickets to order and delivering them to the patient's room using the approved scripting methods
  • Keeps kitchen area clean and organized to meet Health Department codes and to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment
  • Assist with putting away freight and inventory as assigned
  • Washes dishes, pots, pans and carts per schedule as well as retrieving dirty tray carts from the floors
  • Other duties
  • Ensures that all necessary items are located on meal trays as ordered by patients prior to meal delivery
  • Assists with transporting carts to units and passing meal trays and snacks to patients
  • Assists in restocking the entire Room Service Line in the Kitchen on non-peak times
  • Prepares between meal nourishment and any floor stock as necessary
  • Demonstrates how to safely operate kitchen equipment
  • Attends department meetings and in-services

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School education
  • Coursework in institutional food service helpful
  • Previous experience in institutional food service
