Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Assembly Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining master production schedules to align with shipping goals, customer requirements, and inventory targets while ensuring quality and accuracy. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to coordinate kit assembly schedules, balances demand and supply to address fluctuations, and ensures timely planning to meet delivery and financial objectives. This position requires independent judgment to handle complex tasks and implement effective strategies, driving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for achieving objectives while exhibiting Storm Industries' Core Values.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Regular Functions include:

  • Daily management of kit assembly operations to ensure highest efficiency, quality, and accuracy by developing highly effective daily and weekly production plans to meet customer and satellite branch needs.


  • Understand and document current warehouse processes through observation and feedback from warehouse employees, collaboration with others, current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and KPIs, with the expectation of executing changes for efficiency.


  • Identify deficiencies, develop layout, processes and procedures, ensuring effective storage and movement of materials within the facility. This includes consideration for warehouse space utilization, raw material and finished product inventories, TAKT/Cycle Times, and material flow within the facility.


  • Oversee daily Kit Assembly/Manufacturing Order (MO) releasing to ensure urgent orders are expedited to meet delivery requirements.


  • Analyzes back, current, and upcoming orders to prioritize, plan, and schedule kit assembly operations.


  • Ensures consistent coordination with the customer service and sales team to meet customer needs.


  • Identifies, expedites, and resolves inventory-related problems through effective collaboration with Supply Chain, Demand Planning, and Inventory Control departments.


  • Seek and implement continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities to improve operating metrics using Takt Time / Lean / Six Sigma methodology.


  • Generates and analyzes planning reports, including shortage reports, and monitoring material flow enables to identify any shortages or bottlenecks, ensuring optimal outcomes.


  • Promote compliance with safety regulations.


  • Work in compliance with ISO requirements.


  • Regular attendance at the worksite is required for this role.


  • Other duties as required.


  • Periodic Functions include:
  • Performs planning simulations utilizing varying capacity rates, manpower, and demand levels.
  • Cross trains in the demand planning functions and may serve as the backup for the Senior Demand Planner.
  • Miscellaneous projects as required.


  • Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Directly manages employees in Carson kit assembly areas.
  • Conducts managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Manages employee attendance, performance management, manufacturing order accuracy and efficiencies.
  • Ensures performance objectives are outlined and completed in a thorough and timely manner. Recommend and assist with employee development programs.
  • Works with Human Resources for employee relations matters, coaching, counseling, and corrective actions.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 yearsโ€™ relevant experience.
  • Training and/or experience in MRP software such as Great Plains preferable.
  • Ability to analyze data and present the findings either verbally or in writing.
  • Manufacturing background in TAKT TIME calculation, Lean Enterprise, Constraint Management to be used in warehouse kit assembly operations.



Professional/Technical Training and Skills include:

  • Basic Math; Computer Skills; Data Entry.
  • Experience leading Production Scheduling (Planning/Analyzing/Goal Setting/Tack Time/Reporting).
  • Ability to use Microsoft software including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts
  • Leadership training an asset
