Job description

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach. Kinross began operating the mine in 2003, and it has since become a continuous improvement leader in the Company's portfolio. Round Mountain poured its 15 millionth ounce in 2018. Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.
The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.
Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Process Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment, including milling, crushing, conveying, flotation, leaching, thickeners, gravity spirals, CICs, elution, refining, pumping, piping, and all supporting infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
1. Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair plant equipment including ADR systems, crushing circuits, milling circuits, and pumping/piping systems.
2. Operate support equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
3. Perform bearing analysis and installation.
4. Complete mechanical projects and fabrication work using basic cutting and welding techniques.
5. Lubricate equipment, manage oil inventory, and ensure proper disposal of waste oil.
6. Participate in preventative maintenance and capital/construction projects in coordination with operations and technical services.
7. Respond to emergency maintenance calls on a 24-hour basis as required.
8. Assist in the mentorship and training of other maintenance personnel and apprentices.
9. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation for all work performed.
10. Attend required classes and complete coursework and lab training as part of an apprenticeship (if enrolled).
11. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to safety, environmental, and confidentiality.
12. Exhibit regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Minimum of 3 years of relevant maintenance experience in ADR and/or crusher systems preferred.
3. Minimum of 3 years of relevant maintenance experience in an industrial setting required.
4. Enrollment or completion of Millwright Apprenticeship Program preferred (including a minimum of 9 credit hours/semester and monthly lab work at Great Basin College).
5. Knowledge of lubrication practices and mechanical systems.
6. Skilled in basic welding and cutting
7. Certified welding skills beneficial but not required
8. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
9. Proficiency with computers and standard office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
10. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel.
11. Valid driver's license.
12. Ability to meet "Authorized User" requirements for High Risk Activities, including Fall Protection and Confined Space.
