An established provider of temporary and permanent power generation solutions is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and deployment of large-scale mobile and distributed power generation systems. This role will be instrumental in developing electrical systems for natural gas and diesel generation packages supporting critical infrastructure, utilities, industrial facilities, and energy projects across North America.

The successful candidate will lead power system design activities from concept through commissioning while working closely with mechanical, controls, project management, and field operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design of low, medium, and high-voltage power generation systems.
  • Produce and review single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and equipment specifications.
  • Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Specify and integrate switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), protective relays, circuit breakers, synchronization, and generator paralleling equipment.
  • Develop protection philosophies and relay settings for generator systems.
  • Support generator interconnection with utility networks and customer facilities.
  • Provide technical oversight during equipment fabrication, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site commissioning, and startup.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and power system issues in the field when required.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers on PLC, HMI, SCADA, and generator control integration.

  • Experience with medium-voltage electrical systems (4.16kV–35kV).
  • Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
  • Experience performing protection coordination, arc flash, short circuit, and load flow studies.
  • Knowledge of protective relays including SEL, GE Multilin, and Siemens SIPROTEC.
  • Experience with generator synchronization and paralleling systems.
