Junior Systems Administrator

Company Overview

Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years have expanded throughout the Midwest.

Job Summary

The Junior System Administrator will manage and support servers, networks, and user systems while ensuring security and reliability. This role troubleshoots technical issues, implements upgrades, and collaborates with teams to keep IT operations running efficiently.

Hours and Wage

  • Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
  • $26-$30 per hour, based on experience

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and related hardware
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, email, login, and connectivity issues
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows operating systems and business applications
  • Create, modify, and disable user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory and other systems
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes including equipment setup and recovery
  • Monitor system performance and report issues or outages to senior IT staff
  • Assist with maintenance of servers, network equipment, backups, antivirus, and security updates
  • Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, inventory, and support tickets
  • Help maintain company phone systems, wireless devices, and communication tools
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for support and repairs as needed
  • Follow company cybersecurity policies and assist with security best practices
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Windows and/or Linux server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management
  • Experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and routing)
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Strong understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Hands-on experience with patch management and endpoint security tools
  • Ability to script or automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail for compliance and process improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support end users and collaborate across teams

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience will be considered
  • 1-3 years of experience in system administration, network administration, or a related IT role required
  • Experience managing Windows and/or Linux server environments

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move IT equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. as needed for installation or maintenance
