What is a junior software tester?

A Junior Software Tester is an entry-level role responsible for evaluating software applications to identify defects, inconsistencies, and usability issues. They execute test cases, document results, and report bugs to ensure the quality and functionality of software products. Junior testers work closely with developers and senior testers to learn testing methodologies and improve their skills. This role typically requires knowledge of testing concepts, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Over time, junior testers can advance to more senior roles in software quality assurance.

As a Junior Software Tester, your days will often involve working closely with software developers and senior testers to understand project requirements, executing test cases, documenting bugs, and verifying the resolution of those bugs. You may also participate in team meetings, sprint reviews, and occasionally write or update test documentation. The workload can vary depending on where the project is in its development cycle, but you’ll regularly switch between manual testing, exploratory testing, and learning new testing tools.
