Tester/Quality Analyst
Dallas, TX

12-month contract
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a Global Fortune 500 consulting firm, is seeking an entry-level Software Tester / Quality Analyst for a 12-month contract position based in Dallas, TX. In this hybrid role, you will support quality assurance initiatives for telecommunications projects, with a focus on cloud and GenAI-enabled solutions. You will execute manual and automated test cases, document results, and partner closely with developers and product teams to identify defects, validate fixes, and improve overall product quality and performance. The position involves working with APIs, databases, and test automation tools, as well as participating in Agile/Scrum activities. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in software testing and quality assurance within a dynamic, collaborative environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Execute manual and automated test cases to validate application functionality
  • Identify, log, and track defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps)
  • Assist in creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on requirements
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing
  • Validate APIs using tools like Postman or similar
  • Work with databases to verify data integrity using SQL queries
  • Collaborate with developers and product teams to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and improve software performance
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum activities such as sprint planning and daily stand-ups
  • Support test automation efforts using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar (basic level)
  • Ensure applications meet specified requirements, performance, and security standards
  • Document test results, test execution reports, and quality metrics
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 0-2 years of experience in software testing/QA (internships, coursework, or project experience acceptable)
  • Understanding of SDLC and QA fundamentals (test planning, test execution, defect lifecycle)
  • Basic knowledge of Agile/Scrum processes
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) or similar
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar (preferred)
  • Experience validating REST APIs and interpreting JSON responses (preferred)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms or cloud-native concepts (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP fundamentals, microservices, containers) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with GenAI/LLM concepts and evaluation basics, including prompt engineering fundamentals and quality considerations such as accuracy and consistency (preferred)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) (preferred)
