Junior Cloud Engineer

Are you passionate about cloud technologies and supporting mission-critical systems? Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer to help design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions that support GEOINT missions. In this role, you will collaborate with experienced engineers to enhance cloud performance, reliability, automation, and infrastructure resiliency in a dynamic operational environment.

Your Role

As a Junior Cloud Engineer, you will support the design, integration, and continuous improvement of cloud-native environments that deliver critical GEOINT capabilities. You will leverage cloud services, automation tools, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable, scalable, and efficient system performance. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies while contributing directly to mission success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply cloud-native development principles and industry best practices to cloud-based mission solutions.
  • Support the design, architecture, development, operation, and maintenance of cloud technologies and platforms.
  • Leverage Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions to deliver GEOINT capabilities.
  • Monitor cloud utilization and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct analysis and provide engineering recommendations to enhance cloud resiliency and operational effectiveness.
  • Integrate systems through the creation and maintenance of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
  • Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives across the cloud infrastructure environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions.

Location: This position is 100% onsite in Springfield, Virginia. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related STEM field
    • OR
    • 9 years of experience working as a Cloud Engineer
  • 5+ years of experience supporting or leading cloud-based systems engineering efforts in government or industry environments.
  • Experience with:
    • Jenkins CI/CD
    • GitLab
    • JavaScript
  • Active TS/SCI clearance, or the ability to obtain SCI eligibility and successfully pass a polygraph.
Desired Qualifications
  • One or more cloud certifications, such as:
    • AWS Certified Developer โ€“ Associate
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer โ€“ Professional
    • Cloud Foundry Developer
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools, including:
    • PowerShell
    • VBScript
