Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You'll join a diverse team of design engineers, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles

You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
As Manager of ICT Design Engineering for the Americas, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for designing the telecommunications pathways, spaces, and building operations cable plant that forms the backbone of AWS data center operations. Your team translates complex network requirements into buildable, cost-effective physical infrastructure designs - enabling capacity delivery at scale across Commercial, Colocation, and Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) build types.
You will own the Telecommunications Basis of Design (BOD) - the governing standard for ICT infrastructure across AWS's global design portfolio - and drive design consistency across 15+ active programs

You will partner closely with Networking, Construction, Global Network Deployment, Security, and Controls teams to ensure ICT designs meet today's requirements while anticipating the demands of next-generation compute workloads, including AI/ML and HPC.
Key job responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a geographically distributed team of 8+ ICT Design Engineers across junior to senior levels and multiple US locations, including actively supporting promotion paths and career growth.
Own the Telecommunications Basis of Design (BOD) - the governing document defining ICT infrastructure standards across AWS's global data center design portfolio, covering telecommunications pathways, spaces, and building operations cabling. Production fiber design is owned by partner teams.
Drive design standardization, quality, and innovation across 15+ active programs spanning Commercial, Colocation, and ADC build types, including next-generation data center architectures.
Develop and maintain a multi-year ICT infrastructure strategy covering network evolution, volume roadmap, and capacity planning for emerging workloads including AI/ML and HPC environments.
Ensure timely delivery of scalable pathway, space, and structured cabling designs and specifications for construction and permitting across all active programs.
Coordinate with 8+ partner teams - including Networking, Pre-Construction, Construction Management, Controls, Security, and Global Network Deployment - to align ICT designs with broader building systems and deployment timelines.
Establish and continuously improve operational processes including design intake management, documentation standards, and metrics reporting.
Identify and respond to risks and high-priority design issues rapidly and effectively, escalating where appropriate.
Represent AMER ICT Design Engineering in alignment with global peers and partners, contributing to worldwide design consistency.
Travel 20-30% to review active projects, coordinate with on-site personnel and contractors, and participate in global offsites.
